Teams have taken 125 fires in Turkey under control, Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli said.
Minister Pakdemirli spoke from the firefighting coordination center in Milas, district of Mugla province (southwest), on Monday, in the company of Interior Ministers Suleyman Soylu, Culture and of Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
Speaking to journalists, Pakdemirli said that 125 forest fires, out of the 132 declared in the last 5 days across Turkey, have been taken under control.
He also explained that 16 planes, 9 drones, 51 helicopters, 850 sprinklers and more than 5,000 agents intervene on these various fires.
Regarding the aid proposals from some countries, the minister explained that planes with an irrigation capacity of less than 5 tons of water are not allowed to operate in Turkey, which is why some proposals from friendly countries are rejected. .
The minister added that investigations are underway into the causes and origins of the fires.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Suleyman Soylu, urged his compatriots not to fall into the trap of “those who want to divide Turkish society through false campaigns on social networks”.
He subsequently indicated that 10 thousand people were evacuated from risk areas in Mugla, adding that all their costs are covered by the Turkish state.
