Turkey offered its condolences to Haiti on Sunday following the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck the southwest of the country, killing hundreds.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said it was deeply moved to learn of the death of a large number of citizens in the earthquake.
Turkish diplomacy offered its condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the people and the Haitian government, friends, hoping for a quick recovery to the wounded.
Previously, on Saturday, the American Geological Research Center had informed that a 7.2 degree earthquake had occurred 12km northeast of the Haitian city of Saint-Jean-du-Sud.
The same source claimed that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 10 km deep, warning of the risk of a tsunami, following the earthquake.
According to an updated and still provisional report, on Saturday the number of victims rose from 29 to 227 dead and hundreds of injured and missing.
