Tunisia, Chad and Guinea have been suspended from the bodies of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly (APF), the APF announced in a statement published on its official website.
This measure was taken at the end of the meeting held on Tuesday by videoconference under the chairmanship of Francis Drouin, first vice-president of the APF. A meeting which brought together more than twenty French-speaking parliamentarians from four continents, and which was devoted to the state of democracy in the French-speaking world.
“After discussing the parliamentary good offices missions in Lebanon, Mali and Armenia, the members of the Bureau reviewed the political situations within the French-speaking area and took note of the de facto suspension of the Chadian sections, Guinean and Tunisian authorities of the APF following the evolution of the situation in these three countries ”, it is affirmed in the press release, consulted by the Anadolu Agency.
On Tuesday, the representatives of the member states and governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) decided to postpone the 18th Francophonie Summit, initially scheduled for next November in Djerba, for one year, in order to allow Tunisia, according to a press release published the same evening, “to be able to organize this important body in the most optimal conditions”.
