The investigating judge at the Economic, Judicial and Financial Pole issued a warrant of committal against Tunisian deputy Lotfi Ali on Tuesday in connection with a phosphate transport case, the Tunis Afrique Presse agency reported. (TAP / Official).
The Tunisian deputy, who is the subject of a judicial investigation, was taken to Mornaguia prison after his hearing, under a committal warrant, said the first deputy of the investigating judge, Kamel Safsafi, relayed by TAP.
Lotfi Ali, elected from the parliamentary bloc of the “Tahya Tounes” party (10 deputies out of 217), was also banned from traveling thanks to a decision rendered by the examining magistrate at the economic and financial pole, in a second case also linked to the transport of phosphate.
Tunisian security forces arrested Lotfi Ali on August 22, 2021 when he was the subject of three wanted notices for the Central Directorate for the Fight against Economic and Financial Crimes in Aouina.
The spokesperson for the General Directorate of the National Guard, Houssem Eddine Jebabli, had indicated in a statement to the Anadolu Agency that “the elected representative of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People, was arrested, accompanied by his wife, in a house in the Lafayette district in the capital Tunis ”.
He is accused of “money laundering, illicit enrichment and conflict of interest”, according to Jebabli.
