Tokyo Olympics hit 294 COVID-19 cases

The number of cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) among those accredited for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo has risen to 294.

During the day, COVID-19 was detected in 18 more people who came to Japan as part of the 2020 Olympics, the Organizing Committee reported.

All infected are quarantined.

The current Tokyo Olympics were supposed to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the competitions were postponed for a year, they will last until August 8.

The organizers decided to hold the Games without foreign fans, and local spectators are not allowed to Olympic events in six Japanese prefectures, including Tokyo.
