Tokayev signed a law on the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex


President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed the law “On ratification of the Protocol on amendments and additions to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur cosmodrome dated December 22, 2004”.

The corresponding decree was published on the website of the head of state.

The protocol was signed on October 31, 2020 in Moscow.

The goal of the Baiterek project is to launch spacecraft from the Baikonur cosmodrome on environmentally friendly launch vehicles.

The promising Soyuz-5 launch vehicle, which will be used in the project, flies on an environmentally friendly propellant component and also has a positive assessment of the preliminary environmental impact assessment.

The operator coordinating the creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex and responsible for its further operation is the Joint Kazakh-Russian Enterprise Baiterek JSC.
