Before a visibly euphoric crowd chanting “freedom, freedom, freedom,” libertarian economist Javier Milei gave a 13-minute speech as the country’s president-elect in which he reiterated his promise to get Argentina back on the path to being a world power.
His sister, Karina Milei, campaign strategist and whom the president-elect calls “the boss” (in masculine), was in charge of presenting him as president-elect after his victory this Sunday before the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa.
Milei achieved victory by presenting himself as a outsider anti-system and take advantage of the discontent due to the economic crisis in the country, which suffers from high inflation of 140%.
