Sudhakaran said he was happy that the CPM had come to its senses, even though it was seventy-five years late. I still remember what he wrote on the CPM walls during his childhood. Sudhakaran alleged that the CPM had raised the slogan ‘Apat 15’ instead of ‘August 15’. Sudhakaran scoffed that the CPM could be proud of such an act. He was speaking at an Independence Day function organized by the KPCC.
CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said that not only did he not take part in the freedom struggle, but the RSS had joined hands with the British at crucial junctures. Yechury’s response came at a time when the BJP and other political parties were mocking the CPM’s Independence Day celebrations. Yechury criticized the RSS in a Facebook post sharing the names of communist leaders who were freedom fighters.
