On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of that event, from which a new stage in the history of Cuba began, children, youth, combatants, artists and citizens staged a political-cultural event in the emblematic Plaza del Himno, scene of the premiere of the national song, on October 20, 1868.

Federico Hernández Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary of the political organization in the eastern territory, reiterated the denunciation of the unjust and intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, the main obstacle to the development of the nation .
