Pedro Martínez, historic Dominican pitcher member of the Hall of Fame, has always been characterized by his frank style and sincere when issuing opinions on the TBS television network.
But after the Yankees’ sweep of the Atlanta Braves in a three-game series at Truist Park, Martinez said the New York team, which was limited to just three runs in the series, were like Chihuahuas: they barked a lot, but they bit little.
“It’s hard to see the Yankees go that way. I remember watching the Yankees at the beginning of the season and when they were doing well, they looked so confident. It was like watching a bulldog beat up a chihuahua when they were playing those teams.Martinez said.
And he stated: “Now, they look like the Chihuahuas to every other team., especially for a good team like the Atlanta Braves. There seems to be no coincidence.”
Martínez finished his career going 11-11 against the Yankees with a 3.20 ERA, including 8-4 at Yankee Stadium.
Negative record for the Yankees
The New York Yankees finished with a negative record after the last loss against Atlanta, something that had not happened to them this season.
