Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan gave messages about the diplomatic policies that Turkey will pursue in the next 5 years in the article he wrote for Insight Turkey magazine published by SETA. Fidan said, “The Turkey Century vision will serve as a ‘lighthouse’ in every policy area.” Minister Fidan briefly stated the following:
COUNTERTERRORISM We remain committed to the fight against terrorism and will continue to take a leading role in international initiatives in this field. We are determined to prevent the terrorist threat not only for our nation but also for regional stability.
MIDDLE EAST POLICY: Lasting peace in the Middle East is only possible by finding a just and lasting solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict, which remains one of the greatest global injustices of our day.
BLACK SEA INITIATIVE: We will increase our efforts to end the war through diplomacy and dialogue. The revival of the initiative is directly related to the security of the Black Sea basin.
AFRICA: We will strive to strengthen our cooperation with Africa in a wide area and on the basis of common interests.
ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN: We are ready to invest in the reconstruction of the region through various infrastructure and connectivity projects when the conditions are ready.
AFGHANISTAN: A revival of armed struggle must be avoided at all costs and the opposition must be included in the governance of the country GREECE AND CYPRUS: A valuable opportunity to explore ways and means of cooperation based on a positive agenda.
USA AND NATO: We will maintain our 360-degree view of the challenges facing the Alliance.
In line with the NATO Strategic Concept, we will keep the fight against terrorism at the top of the Alliance’s agenda.
