The inclusion of Israel has become a priority for that country’s officials, as Netanyahu has faced months of mass protests against his proposed judicial system reform.
In this way, Israelis will be able to travel to US territory for business or tourism purposes and stay up to 90 days without a visa., registering in the electronic travel authorization system. However, the authorities at the airport may deny entry if they consider it necessary.
When the fiscal year ends in the United States, which will be on Saturday, a deadline expires for Israel to be admitted to the program, without the need to request it again in 2024.
The Department of Homeland Security administers the program, which currently allows citizens of about 40 countries, mainly Europeans and Asians, travel to the United States without a visa and stay in the country for three months.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement along with Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, that there will be “greater freedom of movement for American citizens, including those living in the Palestinian Territories or traveling to or from the Palestinian Territories.” from them.”
Mayorkas added that the agreement will strengthen collaboration between both countries in the fight against terrorism, police work and common prioritieshighlighting that the allies will have greater security.
