All eyes in the world are on the results of seven key states—Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin—which will end up defining victory in the United States presidential elections. The scrutiny in the pivotal territories has started at a good pace and, for the moment, benefits Donald Trump, who has taken the lead in the race to the White House by scoring North Carolina first and then Georgia. In all of these States, Kamala Harris and the Republican have put their efforts into action in recent days and, although it is impossible to predict what will happen until all the votes are counted, the Democrats do not have the advantage in any of them. The final result could be known this morning or it could be delayed for several days, as happened in the 2020 elections.
Arizona (11 electoral votes)
With 53% counted, Trump wins (+0%)
With more than 50% of the ballots counted in Arizona, Donald Trump wins by less than one point. In this territory there are 11 electoral votes at stake that could be definitive. Four years ago, Joe Biden surprised the Republican by just 10,457 votes in a traditionally Republican state.
North Carolina (16 electoral votes)
With 89% counted, AP gives the State to Trump (+3%)
With 89% counted, the Associated Press (AP) has given North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes to Donald Trump. The Republican remained ahead of Kamala Harris from the beginning of the count, reaching a margin of up to seven points. It is the third time that the former president has won in this State, after victories in 2016 and 2020. The last Democrat to win the State was Barack Obama in 2008.
Georgia (16 electoral votes)
With 95% counted, AP gives the State to Trump (+3%)
With more than 95% counted, the Associated Press (AP) has given Georgia to Republican Donald Trump. This State, with 16 electoral votes, four years ago became the battlefield chosen by the former president to raise the specter of electoral fraud without evidence. Now, the candidate recovers a key place with a Republican tradition that in 2020 passed into Democratic hands by just 11,779 votes.
Michigan (15 electoral votes)
With 65% counted, Trump wins (+6%)
In Michigan, Donald Trump wins by four points with 65% counted. This State gave its 15 electoral votes to the Republican in 2016, but in 2020 it was Joe Biden who won. The territory is one of those with the largest Arab population and the management of the Democratic administration in the war in Gaza could take its toll on the vice president.
Nevada (6 electoral votes)
With 70% counted, Trump wins (+4%)
Democratic candidates have won the State of Nevada (six electoral votes) in the last four elections, but with 67% counted, Donald Trump is winning the territory by three points.
Pennsylvania (19 electoral votes)
With 93% counted, Trump wins (+3%)
In Pennsylvania, the most important battle of all is being played due to its number of electoral votes (19) and tension is guaranteed. With 93% of the vote, Donald Trump is winning by three points. The process of counting the votes can take several days to complete. Losing this State considerably reduces the chances of presidential victory.
Wisconsin (10 electoral votes)
With 87% counted, Trump wins (+4%)
Wisconsin (10 electoral votes) was key to Donald Trump’s victory in 2016, and this year, the count gives him the advantage again. The Republican gave the surprise in a State with a more Democratic tendency but that has been strengthened like a pendulum by the margins (less than 1%) with which the scrutiny ended in the last two presidential elections.
