The UAE flight authority announced: “A small plane operated by Jazirah Airlines crashed into the sea, killing both the captain and co-pilot.”
According to Royal NewsCiting a statement from the UAE’s flight authority, the accident occurred shortly after the plane took off from an area near a luxury hotel along the coast. The victims were of Indian and Pakistani nationality.
“Initial reports showed that the plane lost radio contact and attempted an emergency landing. Despite emergency efforts, both victims died from serious injuries,” the agency confirmed.
The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced that the agency’s Aviation Accident Investigation Board has received a report on the accident. Relevant groups and agencies are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the incident. GCAA would like to send its deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.

In another development, at least 71 people were killed in a traffic accident in Bona district in Sidama region (Ethiopia), according to AFP on December 29. Sidama regional spokesman Wosenyeleh Simion added: “Five people are in critical condition and are being treated at Bona General Hospital.”
Mr. Wosenyeleh said the truck slid off the bridge and fell into the river, and the road had many curves. Ethiopian state radio (EBC) also reported that the passengers were on their way to a wedding and had an accident.
