The XIII International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road” has ended in Uzbekistan.
More than 300 cinematographers from 50 countries of the world took part in the film festival, which started in Tashkent on September 29.
Turkish director and screenwriter Nuri Bilge Ceylan was awarded a special award for “contribution to the development of world cinema”.
The main prize of the festival went to Sherzad Nazarov’s film “On the Silk Road”, the award for Best Actor went to Tursunbai Pirjanov, for Best Actress – Madina Makhmudova, and for Best Director – Mexican director Juan Antonio Martinez for the film A Pair of Shoes.
The representative of Switzerland Vanya Victor received the award for the best screenplay for the film “Chicken Dinner”.
South Korean filmmaker Park Sung-min won the Discovery Award for Re-Memories.
In addition to Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov, Kyrgyz actress Aytugan Temirova, Tajik director Sairam Isaeva, Indian director Umesh Mehra received a special prize of the film festival “for his contribution to the development of world cinema”.
The festival was attended by over 50 Turkish actors and filmmakers. The delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkey Ahmet Misbah Demirjan.
Within the framework of the festival, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, and the participation of a local analytical organization and the Turkish Embassy in Tashkent, “Days of Turkish Cinema” were held, within which films were shown, recently awarded international awards.
