Sustasia Fashion Prize 2025 is a program co-organized by Shanghai Fashion Designers Association (SFDA) and Yehyehyeh. The competition aims to promote sustainable practices and innovation in the fashion industry across Asia, while encouraging young designers to use innovative, sustainable materials and production processes.
The young designer is considered by experts to be excellent in using a combination of both traditional and high-tech techniques in a 3D virtual environment.
Leveraging the precise nature of 3D design and visualization, KHAAR is one of the few fashion brands that successfully combines reality and virtuality, following the 3R criteria in fashion: Reduce waste by advanced virtual 3D technology; Recycle and recycle fabric scraps and textile waste; Act responsibly by sourcing premium, sustainable materials.
While technology in fashion helps achieve precision and reduce waste, Ngo Hoang Kha’s unique design language and philosophy highlights a deep concern for human responsibility towards nature. This is demonstrated through the collections that men’s designers launch, emphasizing sophistication in style and a sense of sustainability.
After a 3-month selection process, the Top 8 designers who qualified for the final round were selected from 7 Asian countries and territories including Tommy Ambiyo Tedji (Indonesia), Pratyush Kumar (India), Ngo Hoang Kha (Vietnam), Jaggy Glarino (Philippines), Tetsuya Doi (Japan), Karmuel Young (Hong Kong, China), Angel Chen and Ruohan Nie (China).
According to a statement from the organizers, these designers were selected based on their use of sustainable materials, design language and contemporary craftsmanship, and diverse experiments in the jewelry production process. recovery and the discovery of environmentally beneficial production methods. The Top 8 are aged 18 – 40, each with at least 3 years of experience in the field of commercial fashion design.
After attending a workshop on new generation garment materials held in Shanghai in early December, a group of 8 designers will use this new generation of materials to create products to compete in the final round of competition. .
The prize for the winner is a cash sum of 100,000 Yuan (about more than 349 million VND) and the opportunity to cooperate with high-end retail channels to bring the product to market. In addition, products of the Top 8 will be displayed in the exhibition at Shanghai Fashion Week AW25 held in March 2025.
Ngo Hoang Kha graduated in Fashion Design, Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts, Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture in 2016. He founded the sustainable fashion brand phygital KHAAR in 2022.
