When he took office in 2021, Mr. Biden’s approval rating in February of that year was 61%. However, after the decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan in August of the same year, Mr. Biden gradually lost support. Along with concerns about inflation, this number then showed no signs of improvement.
CBS News quoted history professor Ellen Fitzpatrick of the University of New Hampshire (USA) as appreciating the fact that Mr. Biden immediately after taking office acted quickly to steer the country’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to her, the first 100 days of President Biden’s term achieved perhaps greater achievements than any American president since the term of Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933 – 1945). In addition, during his term, Mr. Biden made notable domestic decisions such as large investments in infrastructure, clean energy, chip production, and increased gun control.
Mr. Biden warned of the risk of America being manipulated by tycoons
President Biden is also highly appreciated by historians for his foreign policy and direction at a number of points. The administration under President Biden tightens alliances and partnerships in the Asia-Pacific, strengthening the US-Japan-Korea alliance. Historian Lindsay Chervinsky believes that returning to alliances and building positive relationships with partner countries around the globe is truly in America’s best interests.
Mr. Biden rarely mentioned his plans after leaving the White House. However, he once shared with the newspaper USA Today that he wanted his political legacy protected – that of “recovering the economy and re-establishing American leadership in the world”. Another priority Mr. Biden can pursue is to raise funds and begin implementing a plan to build a library, most likely in his home state of Delaware.
