The International Space Station passed over the Colosseum in Rome, seeing the picture, you will also say ‘Wow’

  • ISS caught on camera passing over the Colosseum in Rome
  • The Colosseum was built 2000 years ago in the Roman Empire, 20 years for the ISS
  • Discussion of this picture meeting the novelty of antiquity

It is very difficult to take a picture of the International Space Station (ISS) moving hundreds of kilometers above the Earth from below. The ISS is orbiting in space at a speed of about 28000 kilometers per hour. From below it looks like the light coming from a distance of a torch. Now think about the light that would have passed over the Colosseum, which is included in the World Heritage List of Rome. In such a situation, you can understand why this picture is being given so much importance.

Gianluca Masi took the picture on 6 December
Astrophysicist Gianluca Masi, who runs the Virtual Telescope Project, captured the International Space Station atop the Colosseum on December 6. His work was supported by the Parco Archeologico del Colossio, the Archaeological Museum of Rome. This picture was taken from the ground up towards the open sky. The walls of the historic Colosseum Amphitheater are also visible in it.

ISS looking like a streak of light
In the picture, the International Space Station can be seen as a streak of light in the darkening sky. Gianluca Masi, who took the picture, said that seeing the starry sky with thousand-year-old walls, showing ancient constellations as well as the modern space station, was indeed a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon.

The meeting of the 2000-year-old Colosseum with the 20-year-old ISS
The Colosseum is about 2000 years old. The International Space Station (ISS) has been in space for more than 20 years. There is a big difference in the age of these two, one is present on earth and the other is circling in space. Despite this, when both were seen in a picture, people became crazy about its beauty. This picture is telling that the distance man has covered from the past to the present.

NASA News: Russia’s carelessness caused the International Space Station to be out of control, NASA got it under control
What is ISS?
The International Space Station is a center established to conduct research outside the Earth and monitor space. It was placed in its closest orbit to Earth on 20 November 1998. Many space agencies of the world have worked together in the establishment of this space station. The US space agency NASA, Russia’s Russian Federal Space Agency (RKA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Canada’s Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the United European Space Agency (ESA) are involved in building the ISS. Apart from this, the space agencies of many countries keep working together with the ISS from time to time.
