The Vietnamese team divided into 2 groups to return home

In the first leg, which took place on the evening of December 26, the Vietnamese team defeated Singapore 2-0. The players who scored and helped coach Kim Sang-sik’s team have joy were Tien Linh (90+11 minutes) and Xuan Son (90+14 minutes). This is considered a great advantage for the Vietnamese team before entering the second leg, taking place at 8:00 p.m. on December 29, 2024 at Viet Tri Stadium.

On the evening of December 27, the Vietnamese team returned to the country. Due to difficulties with the ticket situation, the 46 members of the Vietnamese team were divided into 2 groups to return home, each group consisting of 23 members. The first group of members traveled on flight VN660, landing at 3:50 p.m. while the second group traveled on flight VJ916, expected landing time at 5:25 p.m. However, the second group’s flight was about 60 minutes late.

After landing, the two groups will go straight to their station in Viet Tri (Phu Tho) to promptly rest and recuperate for the semi-final second leg.

In between the time the two groups of Vietnamese team players returned home, members of Singapore were also present. Despite experiencing a 0-2 loss at home, coach Ogura Tsutomu is still optimistic about the return match.

The Japanese strategist shared: “In football, sometimes you are lucky in one match, but sometimes you are unlucky in another match. For example, when the Vietnamese team won 2-0 against Singapore, they were lucky at the end of the match. Football is not just 90 minutes, I often tell my players that, because during extra time, the situation can change, the wind can change direction. And we will prove this in Viet Tri.”
