Salim Avcı, who lives in the Bozkurt district of Kastamonu, is grieving the loss of his daughter Meryem (38), grandchildren Şule Nur (13) and Şevval (6), who were in the Ölçer Apartment, which was destroyed during the flood disaster, and his granddaughter Şeyma Avcı, who has not yet been found.
Meryem, whose bodies were found in Ezine Stream, and Şule Nur and Şevval Avcı, whose bodies were found in the Black Sea during the search efforts, were buried after the funeral prayer performed at Şen Mahalle Mosque yesterday. The search for three-year-old Şeyma Avcı continues.
Meryem Avcı’s father, Salim Yıldız, 58, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that he was in the village to collect hazelnuts at the time of the flood.
Stating that his daughter called him on the phone, Yıldız said, “My daughter phoned me. ‘Dad, the flood took the car, we are safe.’ He said. The flood is coming, the building is hitting, it is falling down… I want the criminals to be punished here. My three grandchildren and a daughter, half of my body are gone. The pain is so great.” said.
Yıldız stated that he will fight for the punishment of the criminals and said, “We went to the police station and explained the situation and gave our statement.” he said.
While search and rescue efforts continue in the region for the disappeared, Yıldız is waiting in front of the İnebolu State Hospital with hope for news from his missing grandson.
