The father of Pakistan’s nuclear program, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, died this morning, he was born in Bhopal.

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Pervez Khattak wrote in his tweet, Pakistan will always respect the service that Dr Khan has done to the country. The country will always be indebted to him in enhancing the defense capabilities of Pakistan.

Dr Kadeer Khan was admitted to a local hospital after his health deteriorated. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has also expressed deep condolences on the death of Dr. In his tweet, Imran Khan wrote, “Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan’s demise is very sad. He was loved by the people of the country very much because he was instrumental in making Pakistan nuclear power. This gave Pakistan protection from an aggressive nuclear-armed neighbour. He was a national motivator for Pakistanis.

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was born in Bhopal, undivided India. Dr Khan had come to Pakistan with his entire family after partition. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was hospitalized for the last several days for treatment. In September last, he had accused the Imran Khan government of Pakistan of neglect in his treatment. He said, I am very disappointed. Neither Prime Minister Imran Khan nor any member of his cabinet inquired about my health.
