In the decision published with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, it was stated that the effective date of the Paris Agreement, which was approved by the President’s decision dated 7 October 2021 and numbered 4618, was determined as 10 November 2021.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a statement at the UN General Assembly on September 21, announced that Turkey would ratify the Paris Agreement and that the net zero emissions target for 2053 would be adopted.

The Proposal for Approval of the Paris Agreement was submitted to the Speaker of the Assembly on 1 October with the signature of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop.

The law on the Paris Agreement entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette on 7 October.
