Acharya Satyendra Das ji, the chief priest of Ayodhya Ram temple, died today at SGPGI Hospital in Lucknow. He breathed his last at 8 am. He was ill for a long time and was hospitalized a few days ago due to stroke.
Acharya Satyendra was admitted to a private hospital in Ayodhya after paralysis on 2 February, but he was referred to SGPGI when the condition deteriorated. On February 4, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself reached the hospital and was to go to his well -being. Acharya Satyendra Das was the main priest of the Ramlala temple since 1992. He also taught in Sanskrit College, Ayodhya after taking Acharya’s degree in Sanskrit. After the Babri demolition, on 5 March 1992, he was appointed the priest of the Ramlala temple. In the early days, he used to get a monthly remuneration of Rs 100, which gradually increased to Rs 12,000 by 2023. This salary was reduced to Rs 38,500 after Ramlala’s life prestige.
There is a wave of mourning in Ayodhya with the death of Acharya Satyendra Das. Now the big question is, who will take responsibility as the new chief priest of Ramlala temple? The temple administration may soon decide on this.
