‘The country has lost a brave son’, President Kovind, PM Modi expressed grief over the death of General Bipin Rawat


New Delhi
President Ram Nath Kovind condoled the death of Chief Defense Chief General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others in the helicopter crash and said the country has lost a “brave son”. Condoling his tweet, President Kovind said, “I am shocked and shocked at the untimely death of General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika ji. The nation has lost a brave son. Four decades of selflessness towards the motherland. The service was filled with his unparalleled valor and bravery.”


“My condolences to his family,” he said. The President said that the information of others who lost their lives in the helicopter crash is very sad for him. He said, “I join the citizens in paying homage to those who lost their lives in the discharge of their duty. My condolences to the families of the victims.”

PM Modi praises General Bipin Rawat, outstanding soldier
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of General Bipin Rawat by tweeting. Describing General Bipin Rawat as an outstanding soldier, PM Modi said that he was a true patriot. He contributed greatly to the modernization of our armed forces and security apparatus. His insight and outlook on strategic matters were exceptional. I am deeply saddened by his death. PM Modi in his condolence message said that as India’s first CDS, General Rawat worked on various aspects related to our armed forces including defense reforms. He brought with him a rich experience of serving in the army. India will never forget his exceptional service.

Rahul Gandhi expressed grief, said- India stands together in this hour of sorrow
Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi also condoled the death of General Bipin Rawat by tweeting. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “I express my condolences to the family of General Bipin Rawat and his wife. This is an unprecedented tragedy. Our condolences are with his family in this difficult time. Those who lost their lives in this accident. Heartfelt condolences to all others as well. India stands together in this hour of grief.”

Earlier, the Indian Air Force confirmed that Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others died in a helicopter crash near Coonoor.

An Indian Air Force helicopter had crashed near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and several other officers were on board the helicopter.
