Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will change its name to Scouting America to reflect a new phase of inclusion. The change will take effect during the organization’s 115th anniversary, February 8, 2025.
In 2013, the inclusion of gay members in its youth ranks was accepted. Five years later they allowed girls to join the training programs of the organization, independent of the one that manages the Girl Scouts program in the United States.
Last year, BSA entered into a financial reorganization plan after filing for bankruptcy after paying nearly $150 million in lawsuits from people who alleged they suffered sexual abuse while participating in the program.
