The best Kovid vaccination drive in the country; India Today Healthgiri Award for Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala also received this year’s India Today Healthgiri Award. The state health department received the award for the best Covid vaccination drive in the country. Kerala House Resident Commissioner Saurabh Jain received the award on behalf of the State Health Department from Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya.

State Health Minister Veena George said the award was in recognition of the excellent vaccination done by Kerala. The first dose vaccination in the state is in its final stages. 92.66 per cent (2,47,47,633) have completed one dose of vaccination as per the current norms.

41.63 percent (1,11,19,633) took both doses of the vaccine. Ninety-seven percent of people over the age of 45 have been vaccinated with a single dose. 3,58,67,266 doses of the vaccine were given in combination with the first and second doses. Vaccination in the state is on track. About 19 lakh people are yet to get the first dose of vaccine.

People with Covid need to be vaccinated three months later. It is estimated that there are about 10 lakh such people. That is why very few people get the vaccine. “Those who are yet to be vaccinated should be vaccinated as soon as possible,” he said.

The vaccination drive in the state was carried out with a precise plan. Kerala is the first state in the country to vaccinate inpatients at home. Special yajnas have been developed and implemented to give the first dose of the vaccine completely to those over 60 years of age and in-patients. The vaccine can also be given to those who do not know how to register for vaccination.

Launched and implemented the WAVE (Work Along for Vaccine Equity) campaign for vaccine equality. In addition, a protocol for vaccination of pregnant women and a 24-hour drive-through vaccination were implemented. Veena George said it was a recognition to all those who are trying to get vaccinated better and faster.
