NBC News reported on January 15 that technology billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg will attend next week’s inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.
It is expected that the three CEOs of Tesla, Amazon and Meta will appear prominently at the event, sitting with cabinet candidates and other elected officials. Representatives of these three billionaires did not immediately comment on the above information.
Mr. Bezos’s Amazon and Mr. Zuckerberg’s Meta were among the companies that donated to Mr. Trump’s inauguration, with each company donating $1 million. Mr. Musk, head of companies Tesla, SpaceX and social network X, spent more than 250 million USD to help Mr. Trump run for office in November 2024.
According to the magazine’s online rankings ForbesMr. Musk has a fortune of $417 billion and is the richest person in the world. Next is Mr. Bezos with 232 billion USD and Mr. Zuckerberg with 205.5 billion USD.
Regarding Mr. Trump’s policies, the president-elect said he will create a new government agency, called the External Revenue Service, to collect taxes and all revenue from foreign sources, when he Prepare to apply new import taxes.
In a post on social media, Mr. Trump said the new agency will be established on January 20 when he takes office, adding that Americans have been taxed by the Internal Revenue Service for too long.
“Through weak and disastrous trade agreements, the US economy has delivered growth and prosperity to the world, while taxing itself. It’s time for that to change,” he wrote.
A spokesperson for Trump’s transition team has not yet commented to clarify Trump’s statement or explain how the new agency will work.
