The delta variant of the corona pandemic is now spreading rapidly all over the world. In view of this, many countries are compelled to adopt strict rules of lockdown. A study by AIIMS Delhi states that even after taking the first or both doses of the corona vaccine, due to the delta variant, corona is taking people in its grip. 63 people were included in the study in whom the infection was found. Of these, 36 patients were given two doses, while 27 received one dose of the vaccine.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also expressed concern over the delta variant discovered for the first time in India.
Let us tell you how the delta variant is affecting the world:
- The Zimbabwe government on Saturday announced a two-week local lockdown in Hurungwe and Kariba districts following the detection of a delta variant of Covid-19. The government said that more than 40 cases have been registered in the last three days.
- There is a plan to extend all lockdown restrictions by four weeks after 21 June amid a steady increase in cases of the Delta variant in the UK. Public Health England (PHE) found that infections from this variant have increased by about 30,000 in a week.
- Europe – The WHO’s Europe director warned last week that this variant of the corona is “ready to take hold in the region”. During a press briefing on Thursday, WHO doctor Hans Kluge said the delta variant has shown signs of being able to survive some vaccines and warned that many vulnerable populations, especially those over the age of 60, are vulnerable.
- France is trying to understand more cases of the delta variant of Covid-19. The country’s health minister, Olivier Veran, said that there are a number of clusters of this variant in France, especially in the south-west of the Landes region.
- Sri Lanka- The top health official of Sri Lanka said that the delta variant has also been found in the island nations. Dr. Chandima Jeevanandara, director of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine, Sri Jayawardenepura University, said that the variant was found in one person through the quarantine facility. Sri Lanka has seen an increase in positive cases and deaths of Covid-19 since April.
- China- Guangzhou in China has reported more than 100 cases of the infection since May 21. Doctors say the cases in Guangzhou were caused by the more infectious Delta variant.
Some experts claim that the Delta variant can spread 100 percent more than the earlier variant Alpha. Jonathan R Goodman, Ph.D. candidate for Human Evolutionary Studies at the University of Cambridge, said on Saturday that the UK government’s decision to extend the period between the first and second vaccine doses gave people another chance to become infected with the delta variant is.
