Tens of thousands march for climate in the Netherlands


Within the scope of the “Climate March 2021” organized with the support of various non-governmental organizations, approximately 40 thousand people from different cities of the country came together in the city’s Dam Square.

Demonstrators of all ages marched to Westerpark using the main roads.

The demonstrators called for more effective decisions for the environment at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).

Demonstrators criticizing the Dutch government’s climate policies, “There is no second planet”, “Keep the earth clean or the seeds will not grow”, “Leave the money look at the environment”, “Change the political climate” “Save our future generations”, “Global warning, take action” and carried banners and placards saying “Save the climate before it’s too late”.

Carrying banners that read “The fight for climate justice”, the demonstrators said throughout the march, “What do we want? Climate justice. When do we want it? Now.” chanted slogans.

The demonstrators demanded urgent action from the politicians, pointing out that the global temperature will rise by more than 1.5 degrees in a short time, on the banners they carried.

The police accompanying the demonstrators closed some roads on the march route to traffic.
