Saad Mohammed, a teenager riding a scooter, was killed when he collided with an MTA bus at an intersection in Queens (NYC).
Mohammed, 18, was heading west on 89th Ave. in the jamaica neighborhood on an electric scooter when ran a red light on 168th St. around 9:30 p.m. Monday. The accident happened in Queens, the county with the highest traffic fatality so far this year in New York.
By disrespecting the traffic light, the adolescent got in the way of a Q20 bus with no passengers that was approaching north on 168th Street and fell under its front wheels, the New York police said, after reviewing security video.
First responders found Mohammed suffering from a severe head and body trauma. Paramedics rushed him to Jamaica Hospital, but were unable to save him.
Mohammed lived in Howard Beach. The 33-year-old bus driver was not injured. He remained on the scene and was not charged.

Early Sunday morning another scooter driver was killed when he collided with an Infiniti car at an intersection in Brooklyn.. On Thursday a motorcyclist was struck and killed by two hit-and-run drivers who may have been racing on Henry Hudson Parkway (Manhattan) and an hour later there was another similar accident in Queens with a deceased teenager.
The New York authorities recall that there is zero tolerance for drivers who speed and/or drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
