In addition to an iconic last concert in Los Angeles, Taylor Swift announced the release of her re-recorded album 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
“There’s something I’ve been planning for a long, long, long, ridiculously, embarrassingly long time, and instead of telling you, I think I’ll just show you,” Swift said, later putting the album cover on the screens at SoFi Stadium.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) will be released on October 27 and will feature five previously unreleased songs.
“To be perfectly honest, this is my FAVORITE re-recording I’ve ever done because the 5 Vault Tracks (unreleased songs) are insane. I can’t believe they ever left them behind. But not for much longer!”wrote the 33-year-old singer.
The American interpreter has already re-recorded six studio albums since her dispute with Scooter Braun, in 2019, over the ownership of her masters.
“Since I was a teenager, I wanted to have my own music and the way to do that was to re-record my albums. You accepted that… you celebrated it. They really decided that this fight was theirs too, and that they were 100% behind me, and if I care, they care. And I just want to thank you for that,” he added on his show on Wednesday.
Taylor Swift originally released 1989 in 2014, featuring 13 tracks, including hits like “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” and “Style.”.
At the time, the album topped the Billboard 200 chart, sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, and won the Grammy for Best Album.
