T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8:In the T-20 World Cup 2024 being held in West Indies and America, the picture of Super-8 is now clear. Out of a total of 20 teams, 8 have managed to reach this round, between which the battle for the semi-finals will now begin. There will be two groups of 4 teams each in the Super-8. If they are on top from both these groups, 2-2 teams will get a place in the semi-finals. Currently, the last team to reach the Super-8 is Bangladesh, which has entered the second round by defeating Nepal in the match held on 17 June.
Super-8 round from June 19
The Super-8 matches will be played from June 19. Now all the matches are to be played in West Indies. After the top 4 teams are decided in the Super-8, there will be 2 semi-final matches, after which the final match will be played on June 29. India’s match in the Super-8 will start from June 20 (Team India in World Cup T-20).
Which teams qualified?
Group A: India and America
Group B: Australia and England
Group C: Afghanistan and West Indies
Group D: South Africa and Bangladesh
The last two teams to qualify in Group-8 were England and Bangladesh. Whereas former champion teams like Pakistan and Sri Lanka had to return home from the first round itself. USA team, playing for the first time in Group A, changed all the equations by defeating Pakistan in the super over. Sri Lanka’s performance was also weak this time.
What is the status of Super-8
There are two groups of 4 teams each in Super-8. If two teams top both the groups, they will get a place in the semi-finals. Apart from India, Group-1 has Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Group-2 has West Indies, USA, South Africa and defending champion England.
