A two-storey house in Srinagar’s Bulbul Bagh is also on the NIA’s radar. However, Geelani had claimed that this property belonged to Jamaat-e-Islamia. A two-storey house at Bagh-e-Mahtab in Srinagar is also included in the property of the Gilani family. This property is in the name of Geelani’s eldest daughter Chamshida. According to the NIA, a three-storey luxurious kothi in Bemina, Srinagar is also under Geelani’s ownership. Its registry is in the name of his daughter K Jamshida. In Singhpora of Patan also, 100 to 150 canals of land are in the name of the separatist leader.

Hawala link of flat in posh area of Delhi
Not only in the Kashmir Valley, one of the posh areas of the country’s capital, Vasant Kunj, also has a property with Geelani. There is a two room flat in Gupta Colony of Khidki Extension. This flat is registered in the name of GM Butt (Hawala Link). It is said that Geelani had paid Rs 8 lakh for this property. In 2017, the NIA conducted raids in Poonch, Rajouri and several parts of the Kashmir Valley for nearly three months in the terror funding case investigation. After this, Geelani’s son-in-law Altaf Shah, party spokesperson Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah and Raja Mehraj Kalwal were arrested. On the other hand, Shahid-ul-Islam, spokesperson of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq faction, Naeem Khan of Jammu and Kashmir National Front and Farooq Ahmed Dar were also arrested by the NIA. During the investigation of terror funding, it has been found that the separatist leaders have huge assets.

Geelani’s son Dr. Naeem Geelani and son-in-law Altaf Ahmed Shah are also said to have immense wealth. According to the NIA claim, Naeem has a four canal land at Karawalpora in Srinagar and an 8-room house in Santnagar. Apart from this, he is the owner of 1 lakh 80 thousand square feet of land in Doru, Sopore. It also has apple orchards. On the other hand, there is a 12-room house in Bagat, Srinagar, and an apple orchard and two houses in Navalri Patan. He also has a flat in his name in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. NI had reported that Geelani’s son-in-law Altaf Shah owns a two-storey house in Bagh-e-Mahtab, a two-room house in Bathandi, a shop (ancestral property) in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk and 36,000 square feet in the villages of Handorah.
