Steve Bannon is not one to bite his tongue. The man who was Donald Trump’s court advisor during his first term, then executive president of Breitbart News and representative of extreme international conservatism, has declared war on Elon Musk. Bannon intends to “eject” the billionaire from the White House, whom he describes as racist and portrays as evil personified.
“You should go back to South Africa,” he said in an interview published last week by Il Corriere della Sera which Breitbart echoed this weekend.
“I will have Elon Musk thrown out of here on inauguration day. He will not have a blue pass to the White House, he will not have full access to the White House, he will be like any other person,” Bannon declared to the Italian media. “He is a truly evil guy, a very bad guy. I have personally made it my mission to take this guy down. Before, because I put money in, I was willing to tolerate it, now I am not willing to tolerate it,” he added.
Musk was the largest donor to Donald Trump’s campaign, with more than $260 million. After the Republican was elected president-elect, he became a permanent presence at his side. Trump has tasked him with a drastic reform of the Administration, but the richest man in the world is not limited to that role, but gives his opinion and intervenes in all kinds of matters. In addition to his role in American politics, Musk has made the leap to the other side of the Atlantic, supporting the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the German far right, in addition to non-stop attacking the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
Bannon is the most prominent of other voices on the American far right who view with concern the role of the American tycoon, whom they consider an upstart interested in his own businesses. The most recent clash took place over immigration and H-1B visas for skilled immigrants working in “skilled occupations,” which Musk supports, as do other tech moguls.
“This H-1B visa issue, it’s about the entire immigration system being manipulated by the tech overlords, they’re using it to their advantage, people are furious,” Bannon said, noting that “76% of “The engineers who work in Silicon Valley are not Americans.”
“Peter Thiel, David Sachs, Elon Musk, they are all white South Africans… You should go back to South Africa. “Why do we have South Africans, the most racist people in the world, white South Africans, making comments about what is happening in the United States?” Bannon asks.
“The people around Trump are tired of him. We have seen the rise of Elon, his intrusive nature, his lack of understanding of the real issues, and, frankly, his support of only himself, whose only goal is to become a trillionaire. That is your goal. He will do anything related to make sure that any of his companies are protected or get better treatment or he makes more money. His accumulation of wealth, and then—through wealth—power: that’s what he’s focused on. The working people of this country are not going to tolerate it,” Bannon told the Italian newspaper.
“My story is that I kicked him out of the White House every day for 30 days straight in 2017, because he was looking for subsidies paid by the American working class, people who make $35,000 a year were supposed to pay, basically, taxes for support the resurrection at Tesla. Therefore, I don’t need to talk to Elon Musk. “I know what Elon Musk is doing,” said the former Trump advisor.
