Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh in Super 12 match

Sharjah: Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh in the Super 12 match. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 174 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs while Sri Lanka reached the target in 18.5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Victory was inevitable for both teams competing in Group One. Advancing from a group with the toughest teams is not easy. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh went on to win as many matches as possible to secure a place in the World Cup. Bangladesh lost the toss and elected to field. Opener Mohammad Naeem scored 62 off 52 balls. Mustafiqwir Rahim scored 57 off 37 balls. For Sri Lanka, Chamika Karunaratne, Binura Fernando and Lahiru Kumara took one wicket each. Karunaratne and Lahiru Kumara bowled well. In reply, the Sri Lankan batsmen came out on top. Nisanka (24), Charit Alalanka (80) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (53) were the other notable contributors. Leaving multiple catches was the main reason for Bangladesh’s defeat. Shakib Al Hasan once again bowled well. He took two wickets. None of the other bowlers were able to rise to the standard.
