There has been an increase in the sale of passenger vehicles within the country. During May this year, 3,47,492 vehicles were sold, while in the same month last year, the total sale of passenger vehicles was 3,34,537. Thus, on an annual basis, the sale of passenger vehicles in the country has increased by 4 percent. Industry organization Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) gave this information on Tuesday. SIAM President Vinod Agarwal said in a statement that only moderate growth has been seen in passenger vehicles, the main reason for which is the high base effect of last year.
Improvement in sales of two-wheelers and three-wheelers
Last month, two-wheeler sales increased by 10 per cent to 16,20,084 units as against 14,71,550 units in May 2023. During this period, three-wheeler sales increased by 15 per cent to 55,763 units as against 48,610 units in May 2023.

FADA had released the sales figures yesterday
Earlier on the previous day, the industry body Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) had released the sales figures of vehicles of several segments. According to the FADA data released on Monday, June 10, the registration of passenger vehicles declined to 3,03,358 units in May this year, while in the same period last year this figure was at 3,35,123 units. During this period, sales of two-wheelers increased by two per cent to 15,34,856 units, while in the same month last year it was 14,97,778 units. Last month, retail sales of three-wheelers grew 20 per cent year-on-year to 98,265 units. Sales of commercial vehicles grew 4 per cent to 83,059 units last month, while in May 2023 it was 79,807 units.
