On January 7, a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde said that there may be an increase in coronavirus cases at the farmers’ protest site on the borders of Delhi. With this, the Supreme Court has given instructions to the Central Government to ensure that the guidelines of the Health Ministry are followed at the farmers’ protest site.
Jammu’s lawyer Supriya Pandita had filed a petition questioning the role of Delhi Government, Central Government and Delhi Police regarding the spread of the pandemic and the health issue of millions of people. The bench of Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubrahmanyam heard the petition.
The Chief Justice said during this time that you should tell what is going on? We do not know whether the farmers are protected from the coronavirus. There can be many problems in farmer protest too. We want to ensure that the corona is not spread. The government should ensure that the existing guidelines are followed.
Notice issued to the center
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Government in this matter. Also ordered that the government should take such steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus at the farmers’ protest site. Prior to this, the court has issued notices to the Delhi Government and Delhi Police.
Petitioner Supriya Pandita alleged that the Delhi Police could not arrest Maulana Saad, Chief of Nizamuddin Markaz, who organized the religious ceremony, which increased the spread of the coronavirus.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, counsel for the Government of India, said that the Central Government will answer and tell what steps they are taking to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the farmers’ protest.
