After Shaktikand Das retired from the post of RBI Governor on 10 December, today, on 11 December, Sanjay Malhotra took charge as the 26th Governor. The appointment of Sanjay Malhotra as the new RBI Governor has strengthened the chances of an interest rate cut during the next monetary policy review in February.
A day after his appointment, Sanjay Malhotra said on Tuesday (December 10) that after joining, he will first spend time in understanding better solutions for the country’s economy. Malhotra said, ‘Let me join first, let me understand the important topics. This is a different role. You have to do the best whatever is necessary for the economy.
