At the first stage, the Kabul airport can be opened for evacuation by means of military aviation, and then it is already possible to discuss the issue of resuming regular flights.
This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at a joint press conference with his Dutch counterpart Sigrid Kaag.
“Turkey has brought to the attention of the Taliban the need to ensure the comprehensive security of the Kabul airport. We need steps that inspire confidence in the international community, ”Cavusoglu stressed.
According to the Turkish minister, the main thing in the Kabul airport issue is to ensure complete security. “Neither Turkey nor Qatar will be able to resolve this issue alone,” Cavusoglu said.
The head of Turkish diplomacy did not rule out the possibility of involving private companies in the process of ensuring the security of the international airport of the Afghan capital.
“Turkey will not agree to cooperation [с ЕС по миграционному вопросу]based on the principle of “money in exchange for deterrence”. Ankara also does not plan to receive temporarily Afghans evacuated from Kabul by any countries. From the very beginning we rejected the likelihood of accepting such a proposal, ”the minister said.
