Russia is the leading market for the supply of vegetables and fruits from Turkey


Russia continues to occupy a leading position in Turkish exports of fresh vegetables and fruits.

As reported by the Anadolu agency with reference to the Union of Exporters of the Mediterranean Region of Turkey (AKIB), the export of fresh vegetables and fruits from Turkey in January-September this year increased by 19 percent compared to the same period last year – up to 2 billion 15 million dollars.

At the same time, the volume of sales of these products to Russia in the reporting period increased on an annualized basis by 15 percent – up to 627 million 442 thousand dollars, which is 31 percent of the total exports of the sector. For 9 months of this year, Turkey exported 834,998 tons of products to Russia.

Along with Russia, Germany, Romania, Iraq and Ukraine also entered the TOP-5 leading importers of Turkish vegetables and fruits. Exports to Germany amounted to 238 million 24 thousand dollars, Romania – 158 million 306 thousand dollars, Iraq – 155 million 939 thousand dollars, Ukraine 113 million 898 thousand dollars.

In an interview with the Anadolu agency, the head of the Union of Exporters of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables of the Mediterranean Region of Turkey, Nejdat Sin, recalled that Russia is an important market for the sector’s products.

According to him, the advertising activities carried out with the aim of increasing sales to this country have had a significant effect.

“We are present on the Russian market in various formats. Of course, the current indicators need to be maintained, increased and developed, ”said Sin.
