Russia asks to host the European Championship in 2028 or 2032



In the midst of the Ukraine invasion campaign, and excluded from international competitions in almost all sports, Russia has officially shown its interest in hosting one of the next two European Championships, 2028 or 2032. In recent weeks, all Russian clubs participating in competitions organized by UEFA have also been excluded.

In addition to Russia, the federations of England, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scotland and Wales presented a joint declaration of interest to compete for the organization of Euro 2028. Turkey also wants to host the tournament, which also opts for the edition 2032, together with Russia and Italy. The final decision of both venues will be made within a year and a half, in September 2023.
