A rowing tournament on fishing boats was held off the coast of the blockaded Gaza Strip.
The competition was organized by the Palestinian Sailing and Rowing Federation. The tournament was attended by 30 amateur athletes, including four women.
The coach of the Palestinian Sailing and Rowing Federation, Mahir al-Jemal, told Anadolu that the tournament was organized with the aim of developing and reviving sports in the Gaza Strip.
According to him, dozens of amateurs took part in the tournament, including fishermen, rescuers and four women over 15 years old.
This sport requires special dexterity, as well as special boats that are not available in Gaza, Jemal said.
Israel has been holding the Gaza Strip in an air, land and sea blockade since 2006. The Palestinian enclave is home to about 2 million people.
