As part of the Russian Energy Week-2021 (REW), a meeting was held between the Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, and the Chief Executive Officer of BP, Bernard Looney, the press service of the Russian oil company reported.
The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation, including the possibility of gas supplies to Europe under an export agreement between the companies.
“Implementation of a pilot project to export 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Rosneft resources under an agreement with BP would allow in the future to provide additional gas supplies to the European market. This proposal was announced at a meeting with the president and is now being worked out by the government of the Russian Federation, ”said Igor Sechin at the meeting, whose words are quoted in the press release.
Earlier, on September 2, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the country’s largest oil company, Rosneft, had applied for natural gas supplies via the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, the construction of which is expected to be completed shortly.
According to him, the issue is under consideration.
