The Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) has won this Wednesday stage 17 of the Vuelta 2021, disputed between Unquera and Lagos de Covadonga over 185.8 kilometers, in an exhibition that allows him to reserve, in the absence of the other ‘stage’ Thursday, his third consecutive Tour of Spain.
Roglic was the only one capable, and with the will, to follow Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) when the Colombian attacked 60 kilometers from the finish line, on the second climb to the unprecedented Collada Llomena (1st, 7.6 kilometers at 9.1 percent). At Los Lagos, Roglic went alone, stronger than Bernal, for his third stage in this Vuelta.
In the absence of the Gamoniteiru and the final clock in Santiago, Roglic already has almost in his possession his third total and consecutive victory in the Spanish round. The podium is more open, after the bravery of Bernal and the bittersweet stage of an Enric Mas (Movistar Team) who was not offensive.
