* PRE-MATCH COMMENTARY
This is the second year that both RMIT University and Gia Dinh University teams have participated in the TNSV tournament. In the 2024 participation, despite playing with great effort and determination, both teams could not pass the group stage to be in the play-off round to compete for the final round.
Gia Dinh University team only won 1 match against Dai Viet Saigon College team, while losing 2 matches against strong opponents such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport and the home team Ton Duc Thang University.
While the RMIT University team brought a number of foreign and Vietnamese student players to the tournament, they left a great impression through their competitive spirit and not knowing how to give up. They had a very promising start when they drew 0-0 with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law team and beat the Saigon International University team with a score of 1-0 to enter the decisive match to compete for tickets to the play-off round. with experienced opponent Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.
However, the outstanding efforts of the RMIT University players only helped them surprise when they held off the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education team with a score of 0-0 in the first half, before collapsing. in the second half because the opponent brought many excellent players onto the field and changed the style of play. The RMIT University team then stopped the game when they lost 0-4 with all 4 goals conceded in the second half.
After a year of hard work preparing for a better return, the RMIT University team promises to create a surprise. Their opponent in the opening match is the Gia Dinh University team, which is also equally well prepared under the guidance of experienced coach Vo Ngoc Sang.
Therefore, this will be a surprising and attractive competition, when both teams are determined to win, before moving on to the next competitions with the remaining 2 opponents in the group: Van Lang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry compete for tickets to the play-off round.
In group 3, the Van Lang University team is most appreciated, as this is the team that has twice appeared in the finals of the TNSV tournament and both reached the quarterfinals. But in this year’s qualifying round, they will have to prove their strength against teams like RMIT University or Gia Dinh University, which are making progress, to be able to win the top spot in the group and qualify for the play-off round.
