The new selection and ban of champions system, successfully introduced in Split 1, promotes the strategic diversity and the skill of the players starting from Split 2 and for all competitive events, including international tournaments
Following an initial experimentation phase and a positive response from teams and players, Riot Games has made official the implementation on the large scale of the “Fearless Draft” format for the continuation of the 2025 competitive season of League of Legends. This innovative mode, introduced in the Split 1 and during the “First Stand Tournament”, will be extended to all regional alloys starting from Split 2. The “Fearless Draft” represents a substantial evolution of the traditional selection system and samples. In the series “to the best of” (Best -of), the champions used in a game will no longer be available for either of the two teams in the following games of the same series. This progressive restriction requires the teams greater strategic flexibility and a wider competence in the use of different samples, promoting the diversification of compositions and the adoption of innovative tactics.
The adoption of the “fearless draft” will affect all regional alloys starting from Split 2 and will be maintained for the rest of the season, including global events. While the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will maintain its consolidated format, the World Championship (Worlds) will integrate the “Fearless Draft” in all series at the best of 3 and at the best of 5, preserving the format for direct clash only for the Swiss phase. League of Legends’s competitive season 2025 is divided into three distinct split dots. Split 1, held between January and March, preceded Split 2, underway from the end of March/early April until the end of May/mid -June. The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will be held between the end of June and mid-July, acting as an international interlude. Split 3 will begin in July and culminate with the regional finals between August and September, preparing the land for the world championship (Worlds 2025) which will be held between October and November.
