Revolut, the global financial superapp with over 50 million customers, has announced a major step forward in its localization strategy in Italy. With the launch of Revolut Bank UAB’s Italian branch on November 18, the company introduced Italian IBANs, offering them to all new customers and allowing existing customers to migrate to an Italian IBAN from January 2025. This move marks a significant progress in positioning of Revolut as the main bank for salaries, bills and direct debits, making everyday banking easier for Italian customers.
The Italian branch of Revolut Bank UAB, already operational after an initial test period, manages the new accounts with Italian IBAN, guaranteeing the supervision of the Bank of Italy and the European Central Bank. This change not only facilitates banking transactions but also strengthens consumer confidence in the security and stability of the services offered by Revolut.
In addition to Italian IBANs, Revolut has launched flexible, no-cost personal loans, with expansion plans to introduce further credit products in 2025. These developments are in line with Revolut’s vision to become a complete financial hub, integrating traditional banking services with innovative solutions to meet the needs of modern customers.
Ignacio Zunzunegui, Head of Growth Southern Europe at Revolutunderlined the evolution of Revolut’s offer: “From a simple travel card to a complete financial ecosystem, we have achieved our goal of innovating and creating value for our customers. With the launch of Italian IBANs, we take another step forward in establishing ourselves as the leading banking choice in Italy.”
Revolut is experiencing significant growth in Italy, being the most downloaded financial app in 2024 and having reached 2 million customers in June also thanks to innovative, data-driven marketing strategies to attract and retain a diverse customer base. The campaigns are focused on personalized and technologically advanced solutions, aiming to transform users’ financial experience through direct and interactive communication.
With a projection of reaching 3 million in the first months of 2025the superapp demonstrates its ability to adapt and grow in a competitive market. In 2024, Italian users carried out 300 million transactions, an increase of 86% compared to 2023, and almost 70% of these transactions were domestic, confirming the use of Revolut as a regular account.
