Red alert tomorrow in two districts; Heavy rains in Kerala for next four days

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala for the next four days. The Met Office issued a red alert in two districts on Sunday as the monsoon intensified. The red alert has been declared in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Extreme levels of rainfall are expected in these districts.

The Met Office issued an orange alert in five districts on Saturday. Orange alert has been issued in Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. All other districts except Palakkad are likely to receive heavy rains on Saturday. Meanwhile, orange alert was issued in three districts of the state on Sunday. Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall. South Kerala will receive weak rains on Sunday but heavy rains will continue in four districts of Central Kerala. The orange alert was issued only in Kannur district on Monday. Yellow alert was issued in ten districts of the state on Tuesday.

According to the Met Office, the monsoon is expected to intensify in the Arabian Sea. The monsoon started in the first week of June but after weakening for about two weeks, it started raining again.
