Rahane should be left out; Zaheer Khan proposes two changes to the bowling line-up in the fourth Test

  • Ajinkya Rahane should also be left out
  • Zaheer wants Ashwin to replace Ishant
  • It’s okay to play with two spinners

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has suggested two changes to the Indian bowling line-up for the fourth Test. Zaheer’s suggestion is to play R Ashwin whether Ravindra Jadeja recovers from injury or not. “Ashwin can shine on the pitch at the Oval.

The Oval is a pitch that always favors spin in the second inning. Zaheer is of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with playing Jadeja and Ashwin together. Both played in the World Test Championship because they were India’s best bowlers. Zaheer said the same procedure should be followed in the fourth Test.

Zaheer has suggested that Ashwin could replace pacer Ishant Sharma. Ishant was the worst Indian pacer in the third Test. Zaheer also makes another very interesting comment. Zaheer says Mohammad Siraj, who is in the best form in the Indian pace squad, can be rested. The former Indian pacer also suggested that Shardul Thakur should be replaced as an all-rounder. This decision will further strengthen the batting line-up. Zaheer also said that Siraj’s workload could be reduced.

Rahane should be replaced

Zaheer Khan has demanded that Ajinkya Rahane be replaced. He should be replaced by one of Suryakumar Yadav and Hanuma Vihari. The final decision rests with the team management. Zaheer added that it is important to look at the situation. With the exception of his half-century in the Lord’s Test, Rahane has been in poor form for the past few seasons.

Rahane contributed 18 and 10 in each innings in the third Test. India were bowled out for just 87 in the first innings. Criticism of the batting rate has been mounting over the innings defeat. Replacing vice-captain Rahane is a tough decision. It remains to be seen whether team management will mature for that.

Suryakumar Yadav has yet to make his Test debut. Hanuma Vihari is also waiting for opportunities after the Australian tour. The poor form of the middle order batsmen is affecting India significantly. Captain Virat Kohli is going through the worst time of his career. The fourth Test between India and England starts on Thursday. Zaheer Khan also said that he thinks England have a slight lead in the match.
