Quang Hai: ‘No matter how many times we win, the feeling of ecstasy remains intact’

On the afternoon of January 6, 2025, Quang Hai, his teammates and the coaching staff of the Vietnamese team returned home after a brilliant journey in the AFF Cup 2024 with a very worthy championship. Except for Xuan Son, who went his own way by ambulance to the hospital due to injury, the players and team members were all radiant after this resounding victory. The Vietnamese team won the AFF Cup without losing a single match and took home individual awards such as best player, top scorer for Xuan Son and best goalkeeper for Dinh Trieu.

For Quang Hai, this is the second time that the midfielder has lifted the AFF Cup championship trophy after the first time in 2018. Quang Hai is one of the most successful players in the history of the Vietnamese team. He is present in the team squad in most tournaments where Vietnamese football has achieved high results. But for the midfielder wearing shirt number 19, no matter how many times he wins the championship, the emotions are still the same as the first time.

“My emotions are still very high. Now it will be a wonderful self-reward with the fans when receiving everyone’s support and warm welcome like this, emotions no matter how many times I win the championship.” The emotions are still as intact as the first time in the arms of fans,” Quang Hai shared with reporters before getting on the bus to return to central Hanoi.

Waiting to welcome the Vietnamese team at Noi Bai International Airport were thousands of fans from all over the country. Many people flew from Ho Chi Minh City, many people took buses early in the morning to witness the return of the golden star warriors. Like Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh (60 years old) this morning (January 6) bought the earliest ticket to fly to Hanoi to wait for the team.

“Very wonderful, it’s been a long time since I’ve had such a happy day. After picking up the team, I will visit Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum and then return to Ho Chi Minh City tomorrow morning. Thank you to the Vietnamese team and wish Xuan Son a quick recovery,” said Mr. Thanh said.

After leaving Noi Bai airport, the whole team moved to the Government Office and reported their achievements to the Prime Minister. Here, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnamese football must meet the expectations of the Party and State, the Government and the people, constantly moving forward. The Prime Minister expressed that when Xuan Son was injured it was unfortunate, we must sympathize with Xuan Son and wish him a quick recovery. The Prime Minister recalled that the image of Xuan Son placing his hand on his heart and singing the Vietnamese National Anthem was a very touching image.
